A Amber Sunshine story
Amber Sunshine and the Too-Many Parties
Amber Sunshine loved parties. On Monday she had an idea for a pancake party. On Tuesday, a dance party. On Wednesday, a pirate party with a treasure hunt.
"Everybody's invited!" she told her friends, bouncing with excitement. But by Thursday, nothing was ready. The pancake mix was unopened, the music wasn't chosen and the treasure map was half-drawn.
Coral Helper found Amber sitting on the steps looking glum. "I wanted to make everyone happy," Amber said, "but now there are three parties and none of them are ready."
Coral sat down beside her. "Which one makes your heart jump the most?"
Amber thought. "The pirate party. Definitely the pirate party."
"Then let's finish that one," said Coral, taking out a notebook. "You do the fun parts. I'll help with the list."
Amber drew a treasure map with a giant X. Coral made a list of supplies. Crimson Explorer hid the treasure (a box of stickers) behind the big oak tree.
On Saturday, everyone came in eye patches. They followed the map, sang silly pirate songs and found the stickers just before lunch.
"Next week," said Amber, beaming, "pancakes. But only pancakes." Everybody cheered.
The lesson: Finishing one fun thing makes room for the next one.
