Why we built this
Color personality systems are everywhere: classrooms, team offsites, relationship books and viral quizzes. Most explain little about where they came from or how they score you. We wanted a site that does both: a quiz that is genuinely fun and beautiful, and honest, well-sourced explanations of the ideas behind it, from the ancient four temperaments to modern trait psychology. Our quiz is an original eight-color model and we publish exactly how it works.
Frequently asked questions
What is a personality color?
A personality color is a memorable label for a cluster of preferences, such as how fast you decide or whether you focus first on people or on tasks. Color systems like True Colors, the Color Code and DISC color versions use different colors and meanings. Ours uses eight colors built from three axes.
Is the quiz scientific?
No. It is a free self-reflection tool based on an original model, and it has not been validated as a psychological test. We explain exactly how it is scored and what it cannot tell you in How the quiz works.
How long does the quiz take?
About three minutes. There are 18 questions, and each asks you to choose between two reasonable options. Five of them use pictures.
Do I need to sign up?
No. There is no account and no email gate. Your answers are scored in your browser and your full result is free.
What is a named shade?
Your primary color plus your secondary color (the color you'd be if your closest-call axis flipped) makes one of 32 named shades, like Ember Iris or Still-Water Sage. See all 32.
Is there a version for kids?
Yes. The kids color quiz has nine picture questions and no ads; answers stay on the device and are never stored or sent. It comes with stories, posters and free printables.
