A Crimson Explorer story
Crimson Explorer and the Hill Nobody Climbed
At the edge of the playground there was a hill so steep that nobody had ever climbed it. Most children walked around it. Crimson Explorer looked at it and grinned.
"I'm going up!" Crimson called, and off she went, scrambling over roots and rocks. She was quick. She was brave. In no time at all she was halfway to the top.
Then she looked back. Her friends were still at the bottom. Emerald Builder was studying the path. Sage Listener looked a little worried. Gold Guardian was holding everyone's jackets.
"Come on!" Crimson shouted. But nobody moved. Climbing alone suddenly didn't feel like much fun.
So Crimson did something new. She slid back down and asked, "What would help you feel ready?"
"A safer path," said Emerald, pointing to a gentle zigzag. "Someone to go slowly with me," said Sage. "A snack at the top," said Gold, patting his pocket.
Crimson nodded. She went first, but this time she kept looking back, waiting at every bend and calling out the tricky spots.
When they all reached the top together, the whole town spread out below them like a map. They shared Gold's crackers and shouted their names into the wind.
"That was the best climb ever," said Crimson, "and it was best because you were all here."
The lesson: Being brave is great. Being brave together is even better.
