Warm, considered and unhurried. Sages may draft a reply three times and send it hours later. They hate conflict by text and will suggest a call. If you text a Sage, leave room for a slow answer; if you are a Sage, a short "thinking about this, will reply soon" helps.
Texting tips for Sages
- A quick "got it, will reply properly later" keeps people from guessing.
- It's okay not to reply instantly, and okay to ask directly whether something is wrong.
- Answer the practical question first, then share the tangent.
Scripts that work by text
- Asking for something: "I want to give this proper thought. Can I get back to you by Thursday?"
- Saying no: "I really want to help, and I can't take this on right now."
- After a tense moment: "I know I changed the plan on you. Let's agree which parts are fixed and which can move."
Texting and relationships
Texting is now a normal part of relationships: Pew Research Center found many couples use texts and messages to feel closer, and some use them to resolve arguments they couldn't have face to face. Differences in texting style are common sources of misunderstanding, so it's worth naming them out loud.
Compare styles: Crimson, Cobalt, Amber, Coral, Emerald, Violet, Gold.
